Class Selection: My experience with exchange students has taught me that we do things differently than most other countries. Not better. Not worse. Just different. Juho will be in the 12th grade for classification purposes. However, in each class, there may be students of different ages depending on ability. Also, with science we do notteach Biology, Chemistry, Physics together. We devote an entire year to each. Attached is a course selection list. You will take 4 core classes and 2 electives. Your grades look very strong on your application so this is what I suggest. It can be changed once you get here and it will depend on available space. Literature/Composition ELA GRADE 12 Mathematics Pre- Calculus Social Studies World History Science Anatomy& Physiology Elective Weights & Conditioning Elective Computer Applications If you end up in a course that is too difficult it is easier to move lower than to move up.
In English:
Here again! I'm getting more nervous all the time because of the exchange year. Rye students from Finland have gone to Australia and New Zealand already and more students will leave Finland in next Sunday. I'm in Switzerland at the moment, but an other trip in my mind. Here is link to little video clip from Switzerland by me (I'm sorry there is no voices because my computer's sound card is broken): Switzerland's running water
I'm here alone so I have lot of time to think things (well I'm here with my family). I've been thinking my main hobby - ice hockey and doing it in the US. For example hockey season costs 1500-2000usd so it's pretty much with all other expenses. I have great school if I look what sports I can do there. They have own ice hockey team what is pretty good so it would be great to play there. I should bring my own equipment so I have to organize things littlebit to get my stuff with me. I'll buy new skates from US, because I don't want to skate with rotten skates.

I have had information of my school subjects and other school things from my YEO. Here is something about it:

So there are pretty hard subjects. Specially Maths will be hard because in those Pre- Calculus courses I will study things that I can't even study in high school in Finland. I learn pretty fast so I think I will be okay with everything. I bet I will have some problems with language in the beginning but my English will get better all the time :)
